Workshop conclusions

Despite of short notice, the workshop was very well attended, with representatives of community from several European countries including Russia.

Several interestig science cases have been proposed and discussed for Millimetron. Significant interest was expressed by astronomical community. It was decided to start a Millimetron WIKI page where Millimetron astronomy group would further work on science drivers and cases, with the coal to clarify instrument specifications. Boht direct detection and heterodyne type of instrumentation was found to be necessary on board.

A lot of progress have been reported on mainly heterodyne technology: HEB mixers, LOs, back-ends etc. Significant improvement since Herschel HIFI has taken place. Notably, LO coverage can certainly be extended passed 2 THz etc, see above presentations. Many groups expressed preliminary interest to participate in building of instrumentation of Millimetron.

Next Workshop Beginning Oct 2009 Paris

Building on the success of the coming workshop, it was proposed to organize a continuation in begining of october 2009 in Paris. By then, more detailed understanding of instrumentation and systems would be available, as well as work on Millimetron science will be revieved.
